Adult BJJ & MMA

Our Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) programs are designed for students of all experience levels from complete beginners to seasoned competitors. At Tanuki Martial Arts we focus on practical technique, intelligent training, and a welcoming, ego-free culture. Whether your goal is fitness, self-defense, competition, or personal growth, you’ll find a supportive environment to help you progress.

What To Expect

A Friendly, Respectful Training Environment

We pride ourselves on creating a space where everyone feels comfortable learning at their own pace. Expect instructors and teammates who will help guide you, not overwhelm you.

Technical Instruction and Live Drilling

Classes include drilling fundamentals, learning new techniques, and practicing them with controlled resistance. This ensures you learn why something works, not just how to do it.

Safe, Structured Sparring (Optional)

Rolling in BJJ and light to moderate sparring in MMA or striking are offered in a controlled, coach-supervised setting. Beginners are never forced to spar and are paired appropriately.

Progress at Your Own Pace

We welcome all fitness levels. You do not need to get in shape first. Training will get you in shape. Coaches will help you modify intensity as needed.

A Focus on Fundamentals

Our curriculum emphasizes strong basics, proper mechanics, and long-term development. We want you training for years, not weeks.

What To Bring

For BJJ Gi Classes

• Gi or kimono (loaners available if needed)
• Belt
• Rashguard or fitted shirt
• Water bottle

For No-Gi BJJ

• Rashguard or fitted athletic top
• MMA or BJJ shorts or leggings without zippers
• Mouth-guard (recommended)
• Water bottle

For MMA and Striking Classes

• Mouth-guard
• MMA gloves
• Boxing gloves
• Shin guards
• Hand wraps

What To Wear

• Clean, athletic clothing
• No jewelry
• Nails trimmed for safety
• Hair tied back if needed

Good hygiene is essential for martial arts training. Please make sure clothing and equipment are clean each session.

Who Are These Classes For

• Adults ages 16 and up
• Complete beginners
• Experienced martial artists
• Students interested in fitness, self-defense, competition prep, or overall skill development

No prior experience is required. Just show up ready to learn.

Your First Class

• Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early
• Sign a quick waiver
• Meet your coach and training partners
• We will walk you through the class step by step

Your only job is to enjoy the experience.
